Evri pay per parcel by size
Evri does not publish a national rate card, and couriers say rates differ by area and change over time. The clearest recent figures come from London couriers, who shared the rates Evri was paying them with the local news site London Centric in December 2025:
| Parcel size band | Pay per parcel | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Postable | 34p | Fits through a letterbox |
| Small packet | 36p | Most deliveries, according to couriers |
| Packet | 39p | |
| Standard | 52p | |
| Heavy | 78p | Only a small number of parcels |
The “small packet” band was added in early 2025. The BBC’s Panorama programme reported in December 2025 that it left many couriers earning less than before, with some items paying as little as 35p. Couriers outside London report higher rates on some rounds, so treat these figures as a guide and check your own invoice in the Courier Community App.
Your real rate is a mix of sizes
Because each size pays differently, what matters is your average pay per parcel across a whole round. As an example, suppose a round is 10% postable items, 60% small packets, 15% packets, 12% standard parcels and 3% heavy ones. That is our own assumption, not an Evri figure. At the rates above, it averages 39.4p a parcel.
Your average is your monthly invoice total divided by the number of parcels on it. Once you know it, the number that decides your pay is how many parcels you deliver in an hour, counting the time spent collecting and sorting at the delivery unit:
| Parcels per hour | At 40p average | At 55p average | At 70p average |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 | £6.00 | £8.25 | £10.50 |
| 20 | £8.00 | £11.00 | £14.00 |
| 25 | £10.00 | £13.75 | £17.50 |
| 30 | £12.00 | £16.50 | £21.00 |
| 35 | £14.00 | £19.25 | £24.50 |
These are hourly earnings before any costs. To make £15 an hour before costs, you would need about 38 parcels an hour at a 40p average, 28 at 55p, or 22 at 70p.
The £15 minimum hourly rate (September 2026)
On 18 September 2026, Evri announced a two-year pay and benefits deal with the GMB union for its self-employed couriers. Evri says it covers 9 June 2025 to 8 June 2027. For eligible couriers it includes:
- a guaranteed minimum equivalent hourly rate of £15, or £15.80 in London
- existing earnings and rates protected until April 2028
- one-off payments of up to £1,250 linked to the agreement
- three to six extra days of holiday for eligible Evri Plus couriers, one of which can be used for an MOT or servicing
Evri’s announcement does not say exactly which couriers are eligible, how the hourly equivalent is measured, or whether it is before or after your vehicle costs. GMB recommended the deal to its members after they rejected an earlier offer in June 2026, when almost 97% of more than 6,000 couriers voted against it. Ask your delivery unit whether the minimum applies to you, and how your hours are counted.
What couriers earn per hour: both sides
Evri and its couriers give very different pictures of hourly pay. Here is what each has said on the record.
| Who | What they said | Per hour |
|---|---|---|
| Evri, to MP Liam Byrne, March 2025 | Average courier earnings after expenses; £23.49 during the Christmas peak | £20.86 |
| Evri, December 2025 | Average at its West Hallam delivery unit | £17.04 |
| London courier’s payslip, December 2025 | £33.00 for a four-hour shift delivering 87 packages, before costs | £8.25 |
| Courier interviewed by the BBC, December 2025 | About 170 parcels for £120.00, working 7am to 5:30pm, before costs | £11.43 |
| Same courier, his own estimate | After fuel, running costs and insurance | £7 to £8 |
The gap comes mostly from what is counted. Evri’s averages are its own figures and it has not published how they are worked out. The couriers’ figures count their whole working day. The London payslip works out at about 22 packages an hour at an average of 38p each; the BBC example is about 16 an hour at about 71p each.
What you keep after costs
Evri pays you without taking off any tax, and you pay your own running costs. The main ones are:
- Evri’s top-up insurance: £1.35 a day, charged only on the days you deliver.
- Business-use cover on your own car or van insurance.
- Fuel and wear. Multi-drop driving is hard on fuel economy, brakes and clutches.
- Income tax and National Insurance on your profit, through Self Assessment.
In the example on our Evri pay calculator, a courier delivering 100 parcels a day at a 55p average over 5.5 hours earns £275.00 a week, or £10.00 an hour. After £56.12 of weekly costs, they keep £7.96 an hour. That is close to the BBC courier’s own estimate. Put your own round into the calculator to see your figure.
How Evri works out and pays your money
- Monthly payment. Evri pays monthly by bank transfer. Invoices are in the Courier Community App.
- Per parcel, not per attempt. London Centric reported that the fee does not change for failed or repeat delivery attempts.
- Size bands decide your pay. If a parcel is labelled in a smaller band than it really is, you are paid less for it. Evri says retailers label parcels, not Evri, and that 99.2% are banded correctly.
- Admin claims. Evri says couriers can claim back up to £10 a day for some admin tasks, such as mis-banded parcels, duplicate barcodes and parcels not ready for delivery. Record these as they happen.
- Rate changes. Evri’s courier FAQ says couriers can negotiate their rate. London couriers said that in late 2025 Evri invited them to rate “negotiations” that only went down, that one courier was given 14 days to respond, and that Evri said it would assume they accepted if they did not reply. Evri Flex or Evri Plus
| Evri Flex | Evri Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Commitment | Set your availability in the app; take rounds when it suits you | Five or more days a week, including a Saturday or Sunday |
| Pay | Per parcel, with no guaranteed minimum | Per parcel, with guaranteed earnings above the National Living Wage |
| Holiday | None paid; arrange your own cover | Up to 28 days paid, plus extra days under the 2026 deal for eligible couriers |
| Pension | None | Automatic enrolment: you save at least 5% of invoiced earnings and Evri adds 3% |
| Other | No limit on rounds while they are available | Parental leave; accident and sickness cover for an extra fee |
If you already deliver five days a week, it is usually worth asking your delivery unit about a Plus place. The 2026 deal says Evri will offer more of them.
Christmas peak
Parcel volumes rise sharply from November to January, and Evri said in September 2026 that it plans to recruit 7,000 more self-employed couriers before peak. More parcels on the same streets means more drops per hour, which is why Evri’s own figure for average earnings rises at Christmas, to £23.49 an hour in the figures it gave in March 2025.
How to earn more per parcel hour
- Know your average. Divide each invoice by its parcel count. If it falls, check whether more items are coming through in the smaller bands.
- Claim admin time. Use the up to £10 a day for mis-banded parcels and similar problems.
- Cut empty miles. A round closer to the delivery unit, or one with denser streets, raises parcels per hour more than any rate change.
- Claim your mileage. For 2026/27 you can deduct 55p a mile for your first 10,000 business miles, which often wipes out most of the tax on a part-time round.
Questions people ask
How much does Evri pay per parcel in 2026?
Evri pays by parcel size. A rate card seen by London couriers in December 2025 paid 34p for postable items, 36p for small packets, 39p for packets, 52p for standard parcels and 78p for heavy parcels. Rates vary by area, so check your own invoice.
Does Evri pay a minimum hourly rate?
Under the deal Evri agreed with the GMB union in September 2026, eligible self-employed couriers have a minimum equivalent hourly rate of £15, or £15.80 in London. Evri Flex couriers are not guaranteed a minimum.
How much do Evri couriers earn a day?
It depends on parcels and rates. One London courier was paid £33.00 for a four-hour shift of 87 packages; a courier interviewed by the BBC expected about £120.00 for around 170 parcels over a 10.5-hour day. Both figures are before fuel and other costs.
Does Evri pay for failed deliveries?
London Centric reported in December 2025 that the fee per parcel does not change for failed or repeat delivery attempts, so a second attempt earns nothing extra.
How often does Evri pay its couriers?
Monthly, by bank transfer. Invoices are in the Courier Community App, and no tax is taken off.
