How much does Deliveroo pay riders in 2026?

Deliveroo pays a fee for each order, shown before you accept it. Since 1 April 2026 its pay floor guarantees at least £12.88 an hour by bicycle, £12.99 by e-bike, £14.40 by scooter and £17.18 by car, for the time Deliveroo estimates each order takes. Waiting between orders is unpaid, so what you earn per logged-in hour is lower. In our example, an e-bike rider makes £10.48 an hour before costs.

How much Deliveroo pays per order

There is no set rate per order. Deliveroo says every fee is worked out mainly from its estimate of the time and road distance the order will take, so there is no fixed pick-up, drop-off or per-mile amount. The fee also depends on where you are, where the restaurant and customer are, the time and day, how busy the restaurant is, any boost that is running, and your vehicle. You see the full fee before you accept, and rejecting an offer does not affect what you are offered later.

The pay floor sets the minimum fee for an order, based on how long Deliveroo estimates it will take:

VehiclePer hour15 min20 min30 min
Bicycle£12.88£3.22£4.29£6.44
E-bike£12.99£3.25£4.33£6.50
Scooter or motorbike£14.40£3.60£4.80£7.20
Car£17.18£4.30£5.73£8.59

Deliveroo’s own example is a 20-minute order by car paying at least £5.73. Busy times, boosts and longer trips pay more than the floor. Tips are on top, and you keep all of them.

The pay floor, and what it leaves out

Deliveroo has agreed a pay floor with the GMB union each year since their partnership began in 2022. The 2026/27 rates took effect on 1 April 2026 and include your vehicle costs; for 2025/26 the floor was £12.30 an hour plus vehicle costs. The floor applies to the time Deliveroo estimates an order will take, from accepting it to marking it delivered.

It does not cover time you spend logged in but waiting for an offer, or riding back towards restaurants. So the floor only becomes your hourly pay if you are on an order every minute you are online. This is how the floor works out per logged-in hour, depending on how many minutes of each hour you spend on orders (“busy”):

Vehicle24 min busy36 min busy48 min busy
Bicycle£5.15£7.73£10.30
E-bike£5.20£7.79£10.39
Scooter or motorbike£5.76£8.64£11.52
Car£6.87£10.31£13.74

These are minimums before costs, and real fees are often above the floor. But the table shows why riders can be paid the floor on every order and still earn below the £12.71 National Living Wage for the hours they are out.

What a week and a month can look like

This is the example on our Deliveroo earnings calculator: an e-bike rider who completes 60 orders at an average fee of £4.20, plus £10 of tips, over 25 logged-in hours.

PeriodBefore costsAfter costs and tax
Per hour£10.48£10.06
Per week£262.00£251.50
Per month, 48 weeks a year£1,048.00£1,006.00

That is 2.4 orders an hour. At the same £4.20, three orders an hour would be £12.60 an hour before tips, which is why the busiest hours matter so much. No tax is due in this example because the profit stays under the £12,570 personal allowance; with a job as well, it would not.

Deliveroo and Uber Eats pay floors compared

Uber Eats has its own GMB pay floor, which also covers only the estimated time on each trip. Deliveroo’s rates apply from April 2026 and Uber Eats’ confirmed rates from April 2025; the proposed Uber Eats rates were announced by the GMB in July 2026 without a start date.

VehicleDeliveroo 2026Uber Eats 2025Uber Eats proposed
Bicycle£12.88£12.30£12.80
E-bike£12.99Not listedNot listed
Scooter or motorbike£14.40£14.10£14.70
Car£17.18£15.90£16.55

On paper Deliveroo’s floor is higher for every vehicle. In practice, what you earn depends far more on how many orders each app sends you in your area. Many riders run both apps at once to cut waiting time. More detail is in how much Uber Eats pays per delivery.

When and how Deliveroo pays

  • Weekly: fees are paid every Tuesday.
  • Cash out: you can take your fees sooner from the app for a 50p fee.
  • Tips: paid with your fees; you keep 100%. On a shared order the tip is split between the riders.
  • Completed orders only: you are not paid for an order you accept but do not deliver, or where you break Deliveroo’s rules, such as not checking ID for alcohol.

Riders are self-employed

In November 2023 the Supreme Court ruled that Deliveroo riders are not in an employment relationship with Deliveroo, mainly because riders can send someone else to do the work in their place. Riders are self-employed, so the National Living Wage does not apply to them; the pay floor is a voluntary agreement between Deliveroo and the GMB. DoorDash completed its takeover of Deliveroo in October 2025 and said Deliveroo would keep operating.

Being self-employed means you pay your own costs and tax. Deliveroo gives all riders free personal injury and income protection cover while online, but car and scooter riders need their own hire and reward insurance; see our delivery driver insurance guide.

Tax

Once your trading income is over £1,000 in a tax year, you register for Self Assessment and pay tax on your profit. Scooter and motorbike riders can deduct 24p a mile under HMRC’s simplified expenses, and car drivers 55p a mile for the first 10,000 miles in 2026/27. Bicycle and e-bike riders deduct their real costs or the £1,000 trading allowance instead.
